Visit to the Westinghouse-Tecnatom Simulator
This Thursday, January 11, 2024, a group of teachers and students from the 3rd year of the electrical engineering degree, and from the corresponding double degree, visited the Tecnatom nuclear simulator, which is now part of the American company Westinghouse. This well-known company from the USA is an expert in the manufacture of nuclear technology, reactors of various types, fuel and components for nuclear power plants, and also decommissioning processes.
The company we visited today, Tecnatom-Westinghouse, offers specialized training and retraining courses for power plant workers and related companies, in areas such as electricity, mechanics, emergencies, human factors , plant maintenance work, and operation protocols in various areas related to nuclear plants.
The company includes computer simulators that reproduce the control rooms of a nuclear power plant, where plant operators undergo half a year of training and education. We visited the simulators and attended a demonstration.
We want to thank all the staff of the company, and prof. Jordi Bordes, the welcome they have given us, and the educational content of the visit, which we think is excellent. We also want to thank prof. LLuís Massagués, the organization of the visit, and ETSE for their collaboration, and financial support in all the necessary logistics.
