Circuit modeling of lithium ion battery cells. Challenges and advantages of physics-based models.
Modeling battery cells is crucial for understanding their operation and for developing battery management systems. This presentation discusses modeling with equivalent circuits of lithium ion batteries. Special emphasis is placed on the usefulness of using non-fractional order components in the topology of equivalent circuits that reproduce experimental data. In a second part, the process of obtaining advanced circuit models with increased physical basis is described, so that the model is also capable of providing information on internal magnitudes of the cell.
